Gun News Daily NAACP has forgotten "Roots" By William Lolli CalNRA Contributing Editor July 19, 1999 In Riverside California recently, a black woman was shot by several police officers while she sat in her vehicle. She had a handgun in her lap, but according to stories in the media, she made no threatening gestures or moves; yet the police shot her to death. The NAACP and the Reverend Jesse Jackson staged a protest when California State Attorney General Lockyer stated that the police officers would not be prosecuted for lack of evidence. It seems that nobody really knows what happened, excepting of course that police fired their weapons, bullets penetrated a car, and the recipient of those bullets died. Other than that-- nobody knows what happened. Huh? I was on my way to the protest that day. I had my "Second Amendment is a Civil Right for Everyone" sign all ready to go. I knew that I was going to be exhibiting support for an issue that was somewhat contrary to the directed focus of the NAACP leadership. They were interested in drawing media attention to white-on-black oppression. I wanted to remind them and the police that the woman-victim had a right to bear arms, and should not have been shot dead if her only crime was exercising her right. I wondered how liberal socialist blacks would look upon a white guy in their midst, supporting their 2nd Amendment liberties by criticizing the racist nature of anti-gun laws against blacks. Let's face the facts: How many blacks do you know personally who have concealed carry permits? Probably none. Why? I will tell you. The construct of the concealed carry restrictive laws in the state of California are particularly aimed at minorities and anyone who doesn't belong to the political elite. California Anti-gunner Peretta, author of AB23, has his own guns and concealed carry permit. But you don't. He will find a way out of the AB23 confiscation scheme. But you won't. Now the NAACP is suing gun manufacturers for "gun violence". That's like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. suing to repeal the Civil Rights Act of 1968. I guess the NAACP is so filled with liberal socialists that they can no longer see that the 2nd Amendment protects their right to be free of slavery and oppression. Who is going to commit a "hate crime" and burn down a black Christian Church if those worshipers of the Lord are armed? Come on, brothers. Get with it. The freedom won against slavery wasn't won with good intentions. Many people, black and white, died so that we can be free. The means of last resort to maintain that freedom, and to constrain the violence of the racist, is the free possession and use of the firearm. No slave ever owned a gun. No free man will ever be free without one. |
