No Defense in the Workplace--Again William Lolli Gun News Daily Contributing Editor July 18, 2003 It has been pretty quiet in the media since the July 8, 2003, Meridian, Mississippi Lockheed-Martin workplace shooting and massacre by racist hot-head wacko-employee Doug Williams. Although Mississippi is a concealed carry state, it is a foregone conclusion that Lockheed-Martin probably prohibited licensed CCW holders from having, carrying, or accessing a personal defense weapon while on company property. Isn’t it interesting how victims always obey the rules and the predators don’t? It is interesting to me how violent wacko’s like Williams always seem to find the “gun-free” zones. Hmm, imagine that. A web search on the news wires doesn’t bring up much about this horrific crime. There is also no word about the shotgun William used, nor the .223 semi-auto rifle he had on his back. For the first time in 10 years the media has not ubiquitously labeled this an evil assault-weapon shooting. Isn’t that odd? I mean, think about it. That is really odd. Could it be that with the admission of the 38th CCW state, the loss of court battles over the manufacturer liabilities on gun crimes, the losses to liberal anti-gun politicians at the polls, and the changed America since 9-11, that the media is just a little bit “shy” about blaming the GUN in these kinds of stories? I think so. The media—from conservative Fox News to the establishment liberal mainstream—all got it wrong about the DC Sniper Case. It wasn’t the evil Christian White Guy, at all. It was a pair of evil Black Islamists. Whoops. Is that why I hear a chicken clucking in the background as liberal news editors decide how they are going to report this type story? Don’t get me wrong. The war over liberal gun-hating bias isn’t over. The lib’s haven’t gone away. They are just lying low, being coy about how they can or cannot color this type of story. Gun Atrocity stories are hard to report in a post-9/11 world. They represent a challenge to the liberal mind. Liberal editors know they will get tons of negative feedback if they try to spin the story their way. The only patently liberal hand-wringing reported was from the former girl-friend of Williams, Shirley Price; who during the memorial service—for the 5 people Williams brutally murdered—stood up and tried to make the claim that Williams “was a victim too”. According to the AP wire story: Price waved the [memorial] service's
program, which included the names of those who were killed and wounded, and
said, "his name was not on here ... He was a victim too ... He was a
kind and loving human being." Several people attending the service stood
and applauded. People applauded? Why? Because he was a victim too or because he was a kind and loving human being? Hey, Ms Price, time to see a doctor before you think Hitler was really an okay guy, who just had a slight problem with Jews. And take those people who applauded with you. Whoops, there I go again. Insensitive gun owner. Wants the aggressor to be held accountable. Doesn’t want victim status given to the murderer by liberal fiat. The emotional questions are still being asked by journalists, though: How do we stop this thing
from happening again? Well, journalists, Gun News Daily will provide you with the answers to these questions so that you need not ever ask it again; thereby sparing us the burden of your unfortunate want of good sense. How do we stop this thing
