Illegal Alien Children: The New Human Shields

As of this date the debate rages over the US Senate’s so-called immigration reform bill-draft known as the “Secure Borders, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Reform Act of 2007”. You can view and copy your own from this website:

Open-border activists and pro-reform act supporters say that one principle aspect of illegal alien reform is to protect illegal alien families from being “broken up” through the current law-enforcement processes of arrest, detention, and deportation.

This is casuistry at its finest, since ethically, illegal-alien familial groups who have come here, breaking the law en masse, are trying to assert that American law is itself responsible for the break-up of their families.

In a twisted moral sense, this is true; however, it can be rectified by enforcing the law in such a way as to ensure that families who break the law en masse are deported en masse.

[As a side note, I have yet to understand how this relates to those illegal-alien individuals who chose to leave their families behind, breaking up their own families, but I digress.]

I find this use of families as political “human shields” by the proponents of this Act disgusting.

In their efforts to create a permanent labor-class of working poor in this country, the authors of this bill and their hacks are trying to ratchet-up the compassion-factor through gut wrenching imagery of the Gestapo-like break-up of innocent families—all so they can accomplish their twisted agenda.

Senator Arlen Specter R-PA on Fox News Sunday May 27 2007 said that the current system is broken. No, Senator, the current system is not broken. The current system has never been implemented nor enforced. And now you and your big-business buddies and liberal-socialist opportunists want to exploit the illegals by staging specific ICE enforcement of the law for public display.

The use of illegal alien children as political human shields signals a new low in American politics, and is a warning to us that we cannot trust the members of the US Senate nor its current leadership.

To correct the problem of the “family break up”, the Reform Act of 2007 has this section. The “fix” is to grant carte blanche to chain-migration, while calling it a reduction.

Take a look at section G below, which has to do with numeric limitation exemptions:

20 SEC. 503. REDUCING CHAIN MIGRATION AND PERMITTING PETITIONS BY

21 NATIONALS

22

23 (a) CAP EXEMPT CATEGORIES..Paragraph (1) of section 201(b) of the

24 Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1151(b)) is amended by

25 adding the following two new subparagraphs at the end:

26

27 .(F) Aliens admitted under section 211(a) on the basis of a prior

28 issuance of a visa under section 203(a) to their accompanying

29 parent who is an immediate relative.

30

31 .(G) Aliens born to an alien lawfully admitted for permanent

32 residence during a temporary visit abroad..

This is the only thing I can find in the bill that addresses the chronic chain-migration of family units illegally into the US. Also conspicuously absent is any wording about the birthing of alien babies within the US.

Remember, this section has to do with exemptions to limits.

The Reform Act of 2007 does not have any language that closes the “Anchor Baby” loophole. [An “Anchor Baby” is a child born in the United States by alien parents with the intent of securing a citizenship foothold for the chain-migrating family.]

In fact it is just the opposite:

The original Immigration and Nationality Act (8 USC 1151 (b)), specifically documents those aliens that will be EXEMPT from numeric limitations. The title of section b says:  Aliens not subject to direct numerical limitations

Ref: http://law.onecle.com/uscode/8/1151.html

This means that the topic of anchor baby restrictions or limitations has not been addressed in this bill, thus allowing the huge loophole to continue.

Additionally, any alien legally here, such as with a Z-VISA or an alien in probationary status, or and illegal alien with no status or documentation at all, can produce as many anchor babies as they want; and not only will the anchor baby become an instant US citizen, but the whole family will be instantly granted access to the increased chain-migration sections of the Act.

Couple all this with the incentives to aliens for free welfare, education, health care, social security, medicare, the false promise of border-security enforcement, and the overall deception in which this bill was constructed—is it any wonder that there is an outcry across the country.

This bill must never become law.
